So this is a stupid question, but how safe is going to the paramount theater from UC Berkeley. I never go to Oakland so I dont really have a sense of the "bad" areas and "ok" areas. Please don't give me any pro anti oakland remarks, just someone who lives in the area and knows the chances of a white berkeley guy (don't mean to sound racist but race does matter, even if really it doesnt exist) getting mugged/killed at the paramount theater or on the way there would be good.

Hahaha oh christ. You will not die if you step into Oakland, okay?
The area around the theater is fine and it's so close to the bart station that you shouldn't even bother driving if thats what you were planning to do. Unless your show/concert ends after 12 then yeah it's best if you drive. You wouldn't want to get stuck here and have to take a cab back home.

Pretty safe, and since you'll be with lots of folks, less to worry about
Yeah, I agree - if you are going there for a show, then you should be ok, I wouldn't worry too much. Stay with the crowds and don't linger too early or too late is my advice.
last time i was there i got mugged
It is OK at show night, just steps away to 19th St BART, you needn't linger on,there is Sears stores and several banks nearby, its safer than 12 St area
